Grain moisture meter – Wile-78
Made in Finland
code: 7000780-GE1
The Wile 78 is a new-generation, high-precision moisture meter for crushed grain, featuring calibration scales for over 20 different types of grain and seeds. Measurement results are obtained quickly—in less than 20 seconds.
Convenient and Compact
The Wile 78 is a compact device that is easy to transport, thanks to the carrying case included with the unit. It requires only a small sample size, making it an ideal tool for checking moisture levels even before the actual harvest season begins.
The cap is designed as an easy-to-grip scoop, which enhances usability and allows for the precise loading of the sample into the meter. The device’s hardened grinding teeth are exceptionally durable.
Highly Accurate Results
As a crushing-type moisture meter, it allows for the analysis of moisture content from within the grain or seeds, rather than just on the surface. This feature is useful, for example, when the hull thickness varies depending on the variety and growing conditions, or in cases where very moist grain dries rapidly—leaving some moisture trapped in the center of the kernel even though the outer surface is already dry.
The kit includes:
Moisture meter
Carrying case with a handle
Battery
Soft cleaning brush
Stiff cleaning brush
User manual.
The measurement range varies from 4% to 44%, depending on the type of grain or commodity. For cereal grains, the typical range is 9% to 37%, while for oilseeds, it is 5% to 28%. Measurement repeatability: ±0.5% moisture content for standard grain at room temperature.
Tip! If you are purchasing a moisture meter for use with a grain dryer, we recommend choosing the Wile 200.
Important! The scale settings on Wile meters are calibrated to align as closely as possible with common, standard grain types. However, the properties of grain may vary—for instance, due to growing conditions or the introduction of new varieties. Therefore, before harvesting, always ensure that the readings on your meter—for the specific type of grain you are processing—align with the results obtained from oven-testing. Always take multiple samples and use the average of the results.
Tip! You will achieve the highest measurement accuracy for your grain if both the meter and the grain are at a temperature between 16°C and 32°C. The temperature of the meter and the grain should be as close as possible, and it is advisable to store the sample in an airtight container. To ensure reliable results, the sample must be representative. Product Information
